Minor Injuries

If your injury is not serious, you can get help from a Minor Injuries Unit (MIU), rather than going to an A&E department. Two local minor injuries units are in Ripley Hospital and Ilkeston Hospital and their opening times are between 8am - 10pm - no appointment is usually necessary. Minor injuries units can treat:

  • Sprains and strains
  • Broken bones
  • Wound infections
  • Minor burns and scalds
  • Minor head injuries
  • Insect and animal bites
  • Minor eye injuries
  • Injuries to the back, shoulders and chest

The Park Surgery also offers a limited minor injury service for injuries, which are not amenable to simple domestic first aid, including for example:

  • Bruises
  • Bites/Stings
  • Sprains/Strains
  • Sunburn
  • Splinters
  • Whiplash
  • Minor Head Injuries where there has been no loss of consciousness
  • Minor lacerations
  • Minor eye injuries
  • Minor burns and scalds

The above service at the Surgery is by appointment only
